Let's start at the very beginning

(A very good place to start)

Welcome to Café Curiosity.

No, this is not a blog about coffee (though sometimes it might be). Rather, if you are a lifelong learner with ever-shifting curiosity, you are in the right place.

Hey, I’m Mau. For a while, I've wanted to create a site that would be a modern-day coffeehouse, where ideas brew and wisdom flows. Here, I aim to spark your curiosity with insights that fuel the mind.

Here, we don’t chase fads or focus on a single niche topic. Instead, we explore topics that bring joy to life and work, or are simply too interesting or awesome not to write about.

Why the name Café Curiosity?

I got inspired when in A History of the World in 6 Glasses, author Tom Standage describes the European coffeehouses of the 17th century as:

Coffeehouses were centers of self-education, literary and philosophical speculation, commercial innovation, and, in some cases, political fermentation. But above all they were clearinghouses for news and gossip, linked by the circulation of customers, publications, and information from one establishment to the next. Collectively, Europe's coffeehouses functioned as the Internet of the Age of Reason.

As a tribute to them, I named the site Café Curiosity.

By opening our cabinet of curiosities and exploring a variety of topics, we aim to create a new environment for intellectual and social exchange.
